What is Dog Day Care?
-
This is the question most often asked by our potential
clients. Day Care is a playgroup for dogs, which is supervised by
professional dog trainers, providing a safe and stimulating environment for
your pet.
-
Day Care gives the dog trainers a natural opportunity for training
that includes teaching the dogs not to jump on people, to come when
called, stop excessive barking, and to wait at doors and gates.
-
Your dog will experience a day of socializing and playing with other
dogs, while you reap the benefits of owning a dog who is well behaved and a
truly joyful companion.

Is Day Care
the Answer for my dog?
Our clients
choose day care for different reasons:
-
Some drop
their dogs off just to let them have fun and play with other dogs.
-
Others work
all day, with their pet spending the day home alone. This can result in
destructive behavior caused by boredom or separation anxiety.
A couple days a week in day care can help alleviate these and other costly
behavioral problems.
-
For puppies
and adolescent dogs, day care provides invaluable dog-to-dog socialization.
What happens
in Day Care?
-
Dogs who are new to day
care begin the day in a pen by themselves, where they can watch the activity
and not become too overwhelmed by all the excitement. When the new dogs
are ready, the day care staff releases them into the group. The new dogs
are monitored closely and offered breaks from the action as needed.
-
The day starts with your
dog meeting his or her friends in the large, secure playroom where the dogs can
run, chase and wrestle. If your dog is the quiet type, he or she can
watch all the goings on. Around 11 am., it's time for a snack and
nap. Each dog has his or her own personal place to rest and enjoy the
snack prepared by his or her guardian. Your dog's snack can be cookies,
kibble, home cooked food, or raw; whatever you feed at home, we can accommodate
at The Canine Club.
-
All dogs receive a
careful evaluation and participate in an introduction period before being
placed with the full group. The trainers at The Canine Club will meet
with the dog's guardian(s) with recommendations for resources, training, and
help for any behavior challenges a dog may be experiencing.
