Job Description

Dog Day Care Attendant

 

 

      NORTHERN NEVADA’S PREMIER

   DOG DAYCARE & TRAINING CENTER

 

You need to:

ü     Care about dogs, and

ü     want to learn more about dog behavior, and

ü     want to learn more about getting dogs to do what you want.

ü     Be proactive in your duties.

ü     Be able to do gross stuff.

ü     Be a non-smoker.

ü     Enjoy physical labor and be able to regularly lift 50 pounds.

ü     Know that this is a physically demanding job.

ü     Know that this is a mentally demanding job.

ü     Know that your earnings, in large part, will be in the forms of education, scheduling flexibility, free services and at-cost supplies.

ü     Demonstrate self-control, particularly when under duress.

ü     Know how to be a team player.

ü     Know how to have fun!

 

Your duties, in order of importance are to:

1.       Monitor dogs – regardless of anything else that you are doing, paying attention to what the dogs are doing is of paramount importance.

2.     Mop & Scoop – hopefully this is self-explanatory.  Don’t forget to keep monitoring the dogs.

3.     Intake & Release of dogs, including relevant money handling and documentation.

4.     Reading the notebook, clipboards, job board & chore list – it is important to know what has been going on and what needs to be done.

5.     Completing assigned jobs (daily chores, scrub list, etc.).

6.     Visiting with dogs – This is one of the best parts of the job, but it must come after attending to the safety and well-being of the dogs.

 

Starting pay is currently $7.00/hr, then $8.00/hr after successfully completing probation.  Just to reiterate, you can get off of probation as soon as you can finish one of our six-week classes (and assuming you’ve completed all of the other requirements).
